Method of Salat e Istikhara and Dua:

Before performing any prayer, including Salat e Istikhara, one should always commence with ablution. Following this, it is recommended to perform two cycles (Rak’atain) of voluntary prayer as cited by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly when contemplating significant undertakings or journeys.

The recommended Dua after completing the prayer is as follows:

"O Allah! I seek goodness from Your Knowledge, and with Your Power (and Might) I seek strength. I ask You for Your Great Blessings, for You have the Power whereas I do not. You are All-Knowing, while I have no knowledge, and You know what is unseen. O Allah! If this action I am considering is better for my religion and faith, for my life and end [death], for here [in this world] and the hereafter, then make it destined for me, facilitate it for me, and bestow blessings upon it for me. However, if this action is harmful to me regarding my religion and faith, my life and end [death], for here [in this world] and the hereafter, turn it away from me and turn me away from it; instead ordain what is better for me and help me be satisfied with Your decree."
